Expert Source: Paul Kostyu, Ph.D.


Paul Kostyu is a journalist, author, and teacher with expertise in media law, particularly open records and meetings law, and journalism ethics. He was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 2004 in beat reporting for an investigation of an Ohio pension system that led to seven convictions and changes to Ohio law. He has won numerous state and national awards for his reporting, writing, and use of public records. He has completed journalism-related fellowships in Great Britain, at National Geographic Magazine, and at The Ohio State University. He is past president of the Ohio statehouse press corps and the Central Ohio Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
